Envision Online's latest updateable website is a custom creation for the Financial Management Institute of Canada, a not-for profit organization serving public sector employees who work in finance.
This volunteer-driven organization consists of 14 chapters across Canada, supported by a national office staff in Ottawa. Committed to improving financial management at all levels of government, the FMI promotes best practices and excellence in a variety of ways. Webinars, journals, conferences and more focus on universal themes and contemporary issues in financial management.
With 14 chapers and lots of activity, the FMI knew it needed a bilingual website driven by a robust CMS (content management system). Envision provided a CMS that not only allows the FMI to easily update their site content, but one that allows separate user permissions for separate areas of the CMS. A custom calendar of events that can show events in the user's choice of graphical view or list view helps pull the many chapters together. A separate blog is not only accessible through the main navigation of the site, but the latest posts show in a list on the home page.
As a professional organization, the FMI wanted a site design that reflected their values. Envision Online worked with a preliminary design provided by the FMI's graphic designer, recommending changes to improve the site usability. After an extensive rebranding exercise the FMI were also very conscious of adhering to their branding guidelines, and were glad to learn that Envision prides itself on designing sites that fully integrate the client's brand into the look and feel.
The end result is a very expandable website that will serve the needs of the Financial Management Institute of Canada for many years to come!
